Sharpie Shirt

March 7, 2007

This was a quick afternoon project. I read about it in “Wondertime” magazine and decided to embellish one of Julia’s shirts.

Basically you put fabric over a cup and rubberband it still. Next, trace little dots in Sharpie (or other permanent marker brand) around a coin, bottle cap, or similar round thing. Remove the object and with an eyedropper, moisten the center with rubbing alcohol. The more alcohol, the more the ink will spread out.

I made a large blossom in the middle and then added details in Sharpie pen when it was dry. I also softened the stem and leaves with a paintbrush dipped in alcohol.

Julia had a good time doing her own dots on an old burp cloth and watching the flowers we were making “grow” when I added the alcohol.

That shirt is fantastic, you crafty girl!

Well, it’s been a loong time Cat and Amy! I found you here and am so glad to see you both are well. The reason I hunted you all down was because I recently stumbled upon Goveg.com and really, really, want to make the change my my family.
I only know a few vegetarians and I’ve already written them emails, haha. I am looking up resources online and knowing that this should be a fairly easy time to change Olivia’s diet.

Since we last spoke, I’ve had another child - Isla (like island) and she’s 6 months old. I want this for my family, but convincing Paul will be a difficult thing. I dont plan on changing him or anything, I will just cook how I want and he will eat it or cook for himself, its as simple as that.

Im a bit scared as Im not a good cook to start with. I want this, though, it seems like it will take devotion, and work and a lot of effort at first (reading labels even further than I usually do).

It looks like you both are well, and both Julia and Izzy are doing well. So glad to see it. Now that I know where you are, I will check on you more often :)

    All the best.
